Sailed in to Brightlingsea on a quiet Monday evening, went ashore & found the Kovalam. Looked nothing special but we thought we would give it a go and wot a surprise. The food was fab!! A very different indian menu with some interesting choices that did not dissapoint. The lamb shank was exceptional as was the king prawn fry. By 8pm on a monday evening the place was packed. I wonder why!! Congratulations to the kovalam.

I found out this place through word of mouth. Its a quiet unassuming place in a quiet street in Brightlingsea. The interior is neat and the service good. What is really exceptional and worth the trip to this sleepy hamlet is the authentic South Indian food which is of exceptional quality. The chef know his stuff and theres none of the usual made from sauce thats the bane of the Indian takeways everywhere. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone after quality and true Indian cuisine.
